Project Life Tuesday: Onto April!

The Mom Creative

Time to link up once more with Jessica for Project Life Tuesday!  I'm working hard to keep on track, but am aware that summer break will be the ideal oportunity to 'mop up' any journalling I've yet to do!  Love that this gives me a chance to refect on all the excitements we share.

My first visit up to see Abby, our niece.  She is just the most precious dot and her mama and daddy (and grandparents, uncle and aunt!) are all just smitten!  I went to visit on a wild and windy March weekend, so Abby, Elly and I cosied up with movies and snacks and had a whale of a time!  The weekend after that it was over to Cornwall to spend a long weekend with Mum, Dad, Sian, Chris and Peter.  Such fun!  Peter got me a '50 Shades of Grey' poster for Christmas which he brought along.  It totally cracked me up - I do not like that book or style of writing at all.  Oh my.

We did get some blue skies in Cornwall!  It was lovely to see my sister's dogs, Daniels and Sutherland, and to visit the owl sanctuary too.  I love owls!

Owls & ducks & dogs....quite the menagerie!  And Matthew, drink ing a teeny tiny beer.

I am really enjoying documenting all that goes on in our little whirly world through Project Life.  Note to self though.....more pictures of humans, Claire!

Project Life Tuesday: Finishing off March!

The Mom Creative

Well, here in London it is half-term break (read: time to nap and write up reports ;)), which leaves me with a little spare time to catch up on some Project Life work and able to link up with Jessica for Project Life Tuesday.  I have to say, I love that I'm doing Project Life this year as it's tunring out to be such a fun. exciting year!  Today I have finished up my pages for March, and the next step (hopefully up next week) will be April (Cornwall, Gran Canaria, getting engaged!).

March moments - Matthew was working some very late nights so the kittens and I had a lot of time together, ha!  On the weekends Matthew and I completely re-did our back spare room and I'm so pleased with how it has turned out.  The blue with hints and splashes of yellow is so welcoming and friendly!

March was also a month of getting little jobs done, wandering the city, playing games with my class, going to alumni talks....life is rarely dull around here!

The first few days of Easter break were divine - lots of guests over for tea and cake, a tonne of reading, and plenty of fusses with Leela, Poppet and Fry!  As mad as termtime can be, I know I am so blessed to get the vacations I do!
So that's March done!  Only one month behind now.....looking forward to getting some more done soon!

Project Life Tuesday: Getting On, and a list of plans!

The Mom Creative
Another week, another chance to link up with Jessica and tell you all how I'm getting on.  It is so nice to see the book coming together, even if busy weekends like last weekend (visits and our engagement party) mean that I have a hot date with an awful lot of catch up on the cards soon!
I'm also starting to plan ahead for a few double page spreads that I'm going to work on over the summer - as much as I am enjoying taking pictures as and when, I'm thinking targeting a few key events, people and things will really add to the book.  The sort of things I'm thinking of are:
1. Eileen's hen do - so excited to celebrate our girl!
2. The madness of the end of term at school - exams, reports, parties, end of term trips and treats...
3. Our trip to Vienna for Eileen and Rory's wedding - four days away, a beautiful wedding and fun in a fantastic city.
4. An update on the house and how the decorating is going.
5. Matthew's 30th.  A bunch of our friends are heading down and it should be a chilled, fun evening!
6. Our trip up to Forres for my mummy's birthday.
7. Wedding planning - looking at venues, our save the dates, planning things.  One of my awesome bridesmaids, Hannah, is going to make us a wedding scrapbook (how kind is she?), but I'd like to include some elements of the journey in Project Life too.
8. The Edinburgh Festival - so excited to catch tonnes of shows!  It's actually where we met five years ago.
9. The tea party I'm planning in July to celebrate one year of our having the cats.  Love our furbabies!
10. Summer fun - picnics and girldates and barbecues.
So many fun things to record!  More on my pages next week, but for now I'll close with some pictures from the fun this weekend - I've just sent them off to be printed for our 'engagement party' page!
So lovely to catch up with friends!

Love our wedding ducks!

At lunch with Laura the morning after - Matthew and I cheesing it up! I really need to work on my 'ring' pose!

Isn't my colleague Emer a cutie?

Junior League girls always liven up a party!  Love these ladies.

Speaking of love....my ring arrived on Friday.  I love it so!

It was so sweet to have Laura visit.  She is such an awesome friend.

Project Life Tuesday: Catching up

The Mom Creative

Linking up with the lovely Jessica as I attempt to stop squeeing about being engaged / working / planning long enough to catch up on the PL work I've missed.  Last weekend I finished off February and headed off into March :)

Pictures from my pre-visit to the Roald Dahl Museum!  I was thrilled to learn I am exactly the same height as Miss Honey from Matilda.  My class thought that was pretty super too!

Sunshine, wine, cats, Matthew - some further glimpses of half-term break.  Matthew and I went to The Wolseley and The Ritz - such a treat!

More of the late winter spring and the excitement of seeing Book of Mormon in its preview weeks.  So much laughter.

Glimpses of Shona's visit in early March.  Love that girl!

Next week I'll hope to whizz through March, and then it's just a hop, skip and jump to the present (she said, no doubt all too confidently!).  Looking forward to catch up with everyone's posts over a cup of coffee later!

Project Life Tuesday: Confessions Edition

The Mom Creative

Linking up (after far too long!) with the lovely Jessica.

You guys, I've been bad.  What with work and school and holidays and getting engaged (which still makes me grin like a loon to think of!), I've fallen wildly off the PL wagon.  I've been snapping away and collecting some memories, but have not sat down with my book in a month.

That makes me a little sad.

I love that Project Life lets you document everything, no matter how small, but lately the bigger stuff has got in the way.

I want to make time for it, though, so I can savour moments like this.....

Project Life has also shown me that sometimes it's about the 'tell' as well as the 'show', and I'm hoping to cook up some creative ways to recall girly brunches, dinners, dates with Matthew, and events.  Because it's nice sometimes to *not* take pictures.

Back onto it I shall go.

How are you getting on?  Am I alone in my need to catch up?

Project Life Tuesday: Making Progress

Linking up with Jessica for Project Life Tuesday....

I am starting to make some real progress with Project Life, but it devours time!  I'm glad to be doing it though, but am aware there are many things I could improve (keeping stubs of tickets, noting down quotes, taking pictures of PEOPLE!).  Here are my most recent pages:

Love these little title cards!

Pictures and notes from Adam and Anne-Marie's wedding - such a beautiful day!

I'm getting better and better at adding little notes about fun events!

There are plenty of pictures of the cats!

Project Life Tuesday: Finally getting on!

The Mom Creative

It's been a fair old while since I last linked up with Jessica, and the reason is simple.  This year I made the leap from the digital PL format to the actual, real life scrapbooks.  It's such fun but the discipline of taking time to do things little and often, save little whatsits, take plenty of pictures and send them off for printing has taken a wee while to get the hang of!  It's a lot more work than the digital version, but I love seeing it come together in a real, concrete way!

I'm really enjoying it and can already see what a treasure this album will be to look back on.  Matthew is being very tolerant of my happy dances when I get a few pages done.  January is coming on nicely and February's in process.  Here's a peek at the first four pages....

Pictures from a blog meet, a postcard, a dog on the tube moment, and Leela-paws helping me budget!

More pictures from the blog meet, including a shot of the very pretty Rose!  Fry in his laundry basket, a few notes on events, and a thank you note from a project I sponsored on Kickstarter (love that site!).

Letters and texts, oh mys - finally, a place to keep my post to look back on!  I'm loving the range of what can be included in the folder and have lots of plans as the year progresses!

A few more bits and bobs - can't wait to do a little more next week!

Project Life Tuesday: A Big Change

The Mom Creative
Linking up with Jessica, as ever.

When it comes to Project Life, I've made a big change.  As much as I loved doing the digital version last year, I always really wanted to try the 'hands on' version.  So this year, I am taking the leap!  I have ordered the turquoise binder and cards and a box of dividers, and can't wait to get started with them.  Obviously with the late start I will have to approach the task slightly differently, so I'll be doing a range of spreads - a couple of day-to-days for each month and then some for special events (our niece's arrival, family vacation, holiday, weddings) or special themes (getting healthy, katzen!).  I am super excited to get started and will be looking for LOTS of tips from you more experienced scrappers!

How do you organise your folder?  Day to day?  Week by week?  As and when the desire takes you?

This week I have little to share as I eagerly await to arrival of my goodies and a weekend in which to get grafting, so I'll share instead a few of my recent PL inspired pins - there are so many great additions out there!

Love these little cards - such a cute addition to your file!

More sweetness!  I think these might fit well with the blues and browns of my folder!

So many cute things to include!

I love these!

Project Life Tuesday: 30th December - 5th January

The Mom Creative

The last week of break was chilled and relaxed, as these things should be.  As well as celebrating new year's with a lovely bunch of people, I also got to catch up with lovely folk such as Eileen, Hannah and Shona, as well as tearing through a few books, chilling with Matthew and the katzen, starting our healthkick and getting physically and mentally prepared for the school term ahead!

As this posts (Lord bless the scheduled post function!) I'll be just getting up and doing my 30 minutes on the cross-trainer.  The early mornings are a kick in the pants, but there's something so cool about knowing your workout (however small!) is done and dusted.

Despite the busy-ness of the week, and the wonderful cast of characters I spent it with, I only took a few snaps...it really felt like a time for relaxation, reflection, and words, rather than photo-op-ing it up.  I do have a few, which nicely show how I rounded off 2012 and greeted 2013.  Happy New Year!

A quick snapshot from the NYE party.  Our dear friends James and Laura had a wonderful get-together at their flat, complete with yummy cocktails, great company, games, karaoke, and gallons of silliness.  It was such a great night!  We also had James and Laura join us for New Year's Night supper - pies and peas and darts!

My dear sweet laptop completely broke, first thing on January 2nd.  I actually got a little weepy - is that wrong?  I loved that little piece of kit - I wrote most of this blog on it, it's where I sent the first few emails and messages to that cute boy I met in Edinburgh.... It's entirely kaput, but Matthew in his huge cleverness has been able to recover any music, docs and photos that weren't backed up!  Thank you, baby!

Laura and James have the most amazing view across the city.  I love the lights of Canary Wharf - always seems pretty glamorous to this smalltown girl!

It's been lovely to have so much time to relax and play and snuggle with the katzen.  Poppet is such a sweet girl!

I noticed when looking back over the years that I tend to sag a little bit in the darker months - I feel lower and more stressed and tired.  So I've bought myself a little SAD lamp, to see if this might help.  More on this later in the month once I've given it a little time :)

More of Laura and James' fantastic view.  That bright light in the distance is the fireworks display at the London Eye!  We could see it all clear as day, but my iPhone wasn't up to recording it so well!

Leela is such a camera hog now.  She looooooves my phone - the minute it comes out she starts purring and head dooshing it!

She also likes sitting in waste paper bins.

Fry gets lots of love (he is a snuggly, huggly boy who loves giving us purrs and friendlehs!), but his jet black fur makes it harder to snap him.  He's a delight, just beautiful.

I was working on my budgeting Saturday - Miss Paws decided she would help (if by "help" you mean purr non-stop, stand on my computer, and increase the cat food budget by 3000%).  Such a sweetie pie!

I'm so excited to be doing Project Life again this year!  Here's to a great 2013.
